At MTech Mechanical, one of the technologies helping us achieve these goals is Sphere XG. By capturing and sharing 3D project documentation, Sphere XG enables our teams and clients to fully tell the story of the project through project conditions, milestones and progress throughout its duration.

Bringing the Jobsite to Every Stakeholder

Sphere XG is a cloud-based digital platform that links 3D models, point clouds and 360-degree photos in a single environment. A 360-degree camera is walked around the jobsite on a regular cadence to capture the images. These images are automatically linked to project drawings to create the visual storyline of the project. Teams are then able to remotely review field conditions, track progress, and better understand how work is advancing over time. Whether supporting project management, coordination, or owner communication, the technology makes it easier for stakeholders to stay informed without always needing to be onsite.

Today, MTech uses Sphere XG primarily on larger construction projects, including sites such as Colorado School of Mines and Craig Hospital.

The approach provides a consistent, searchable record that helps teams track productivity and relieve common questions typical of the construction process:

• What does the project look like today?  What did it look like 3 months ago?
• Was this installed correctly and where is it located?
• How has the project progressed since the last update?
