Connecting Through Mental Wellness: Recapping Mental Health Month
At MTech, connections start with caring for one another. Mental Health Awareness Month in May serves as a reminder that a strong team is built on more than physical safety—it also means supporting the mental and emotional well-being of those around us.
In an industry where mental health challenges are common, staying connected matters. Taking the time to check in, listen, and offer support can strengthen our teams and make a meaningful difference in someone’s life. Small actions often have the greatest impact.
This May, we focused on a simple idea:
Our goal throughout the month was to raise awareness about mental health, share available resources and how to use them, keep conversations open across MTech, and encourage engagement through events to keep mental health top of mind, because mental health is health.
Check In
Throughout Mental Health Awareness Month, we visited jobsites for our annual Maple Syrup for Mental Health events. More than a shared meal, these gatherings provided an opportunity to connect with team members and trade partners, strengthen relationships, and remind one another that support starts with a simple check-in.
Reach Out
We continued to raise awareness about the resources available to team members and their families, including MTech’s Employee Assistance Program (we now offer 12 free visits per issue per year for team members and anyone living in their household) and the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Knowing where to turn for support is an important part of maintaining mental well-being, and help is always available. You can learn more on MTech’s Mental Health Resource Page.
Empathize
This year’s training classes, taught by Michelle Zellner of Better Beings, and our weekly Toolbox Talks focused on building resilience, managing stress, and supporting others through difficult times. By encouraging empathy and open conversations, we help create a workplace where people feel valued, respected, and connected.
Watch Out
A strong safety culture includes looking out for one another both on and off the job. When people stay connected, recognize when someone may be struggling, and know how to offer support, we create a stronger team and a healthier community.
The Conversation Continues
At MTech, we’re proud of the work we do, but we’re even prouder of the people who make it possible. Although Mental Health Awareness Month is over, the conversation are not. By continuing to look out for one another, we strengthen our teams and our communities.
